CFC, the specialist insurance provider, pioneer in emerging risk and market leader in cyber, today announced an expansion of its award winning Cyber Masterclass, reinforcing its view that cyber risk must be understood and communicated through an industry specific lens as brokers seek more targeted ways to engage clients.
While cyber risk affects every organisation, the nature of that risk varies significantly by sector. From ransomware disruption in healthcare to payment system failures in retail, supply chain vulnerabilities in manufacturing and funds transfer fraud in construction, CFC believes generic cyber conversations are no longer sufficient to drive understanding or meaningful uptake particularly among SMEs.
This industry-led approach reflects how brokers already advise their clients and represents a clear shift away from treating cyber as a one-size-fits-all risk. By focusing on how cyber threats manifest differently across sectors, brokers are better equipped to explain relevance, demonstrate value and support informed buying decisions.
To support this shift, CFC has expanded its Cyber Masterclass programme with the addition of a new industry-focused module, Cyber for Industries. This latest module explores cyber exposure across seven key industries, helping brokers tailor conversations through:
- Industry specific threat insights showing how cyber risks differ by sector
- Real-world scenarios demonstrating how cyber insurance responds in practice
- Practical examples brokers can take directly into client discussions
Industries covered include healthcare, construction, retail and hospitality, manufacturing, education, the public sector and professional services.
Commenting on the shift in focus, Lindsey Maher, Head of Global Cyber Development at CFC, said:
“Brokers tell us they understand cyber is a risk for every client, but where they often struggle is explaining how that risk actually plays out across different industries. This module is designed to change that."
By focusing on industry specific threats and real world scenarios, we’re giving brokers the tools and confidence to have more relevant, targeted cyber conversations. Ultimately, that helps clients better understand their exposure and supports brokers in growing cyber adoption in a way that feels natural to how they already work. Lindsey Maher, Head of Global Cyber Development
Originally launched in May 2025, CFC’s Cyber Masterclass is a free on-demand video learning series for brokers with global recognition, with CE accreditation across major US states. Brokers who complete the original four accredited modules gain CFC Cyber Certification, and uptake has been strong, with more than 6,000 brokers signing up since launch.
Feedback from the broker community has highlighted the practical value of the programme in building confidence and understanding around cyber insurance.
I took the CFC Cyber Masterclass and was struck by how clearly it explains the foundations of cyber insurance and how those early developments continue to shape the market today. The content offers genuinely valuable insight, and I would highly recommend the series to anyone looking to broaden their understanding of the cyber insurance landscape.
