Since 2023, CFC have encrypted our cyber insurance policies for insureds*. This is a market-first and we're proud to be leading the way.
Your cyber insurance policy isn’t just paperwork - it’s a high-value asset. Storing it in clear text on a computer, network, or cloud folder leaves it vulnerable to attackers who are constantly scanning for exposed files.
Policy encryption provides an additional layer of security for our insureds and is another critical step in keeping businesses safe from cyber threats. In short, this ensures that should a customer’s policy documents fall into the wrong hands, they can’t be used as leverage in an extortion attempt.
Insureds can access their policy via a password, or decryption key, found within our award-winning mobile app, Response. Brokers will be given the policy decryption key via email when the policy is bound.
Along with the encryption we'll provide on cyber policy documents, you can also suggest clients to the following to protect their policies:
- Encrypt all other policy documents – wherever they are stored.
- Separate the key – never keep the decryption file in the same location as the policy.
- Restrict access – ensure only authorised staff can view or decrypt policy documents.
To learn more about this exciting new capability we encourage you to check out our FAQ doc, or watch our live demo where we'll walk through what will change and how it will work.
